Aside from those which occurred more-or-less intentionally (while chasing); the F3 Stoughton, WI tornado of August 18, 2005 missed my family's house by less than 1/2 mile. I was at home at the time, between my freshman and sophomore years of college.

I suppose a close call for me was the day I drove through the Metropolis/Brookport area (2013) about half an hour before the deadly tornado occurred.
